It was great to be back at the Johns Hopkins Believe in Tomorrow Children’s House where my friend, Alli, and I decorated pumpkins and baked cookies for the children staying at the house.

My friend Katie and I had a great time spending the evening at the Johns Hopkins Believe in Tomorrow Children’s House preparing a meal for the families there. The Believe in Tomorrow Children’s Foundation provides housing for critically ill children and their families. Preparing a hot meal for the families takes a little stress off of them. We are always told that our food beats hospital food any day!
The Community Foundation of Carroll County honors an individual, a youth, a community business partnership, a nonprofit organization and a legacy philanthropist at a ceremony each year. It was a huge honor for me to named the 2013 Youth Philanthropist of the Year! Community Service has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I have volunteered with many organizations throughout the past few years and it is such an honor to be recognized for something that is so important to me.
Fifty excited children spent the morning at the Merritt Athletic Club Fall Festival Fun Run to raise funds for the Ronald McDonald House Charities. I am so glad that I was able to play games with them, cheer them on and most importantly, see the smiles on their faces as they crossed the finish line!
