I helped out at the King’s Kamp where about 50 kids were able to learn all about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. They listened to stories and lessons about standing up for something and participated in fun activities like scavenger hunts. I spoke to them about one of Dr. King’s main messages (and a personal favorite of mine!): community service! I talked to them all about why they should volunteer and some of them told me about community service that they’ve already done. Last, we all went on a “freedom march” outside. Some of the kids started chanting “We’re marchin’, we’re marchin’! Marchin’ for Martin!” It was a great opportunity for the kids to get together, learn a lot, and have a good time on Martin Luther King Jr. Day!

At the Health & Fitness Expo, I represented the American Heart Association and their Go Red For Women initiative. It was super busy and fun to educate others about the risks of heart disease, while also giving out lots of cool prizes! There were tons of booths in the Washington Convention Center with lots of activities and information.
